Guest Wifi: Computers
EC_GUEST_WIFI is a wireless connection that may be used with student and guest mobile devices such as phones and tablets. You will register your device the first time you connect to the wireless on campus. Here's how to connect to EC_GUEST_WIFI on PC and Mac devices.
EC_GUEST_WIFI is a non-secure connection, and Elizabethtown College does not guarantee the privacy of your data and communication while using EC_GUEST_WIFI.
Quick links to sections in this article:
1. On your device, navigate to the wireless settings.
2. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. Select EC_GUEST_WIFI.
3. Open your web browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.) and visit http://guest.etown.edu.
4. Follow the steps on screen to create a guest account. You will receive your username and password in a text or e-mail.

PC - Detailed Connection Guide

Step 1: Click the Wireless Network Icon in the task bar (next to the time in the bottom right-hand corner). Choose EC_GUEST_WIFI, then click Connect


Step 2: After it has connected, open a web browser. 
Step 3:Click Agree.

Step 4:
Guests will see two link options: guests with an existing account, and guests requiring a new account. For guests requiring a new account, skip to Step 7

Step 5:
Guests with an existing account should click the appropriate link. If you have already registered and received a password, click this link to connect with your other devices. 

Note: An existing account means you have already received your account information or conference code from ITS.

Guests With an Existing Account
Step 6:
Enter the username and password that were given to you, then click Continue. Follow through the Guest Registration steps to register your computer.

Step 7:
Guests requiring a new account should click the appropriate link. 

Guests Requiring a New Account
Step 8:
Enter the information, then click Request Guest Access

Step 9:
You will receive an e-mail and text message containing the password for guest wireless access. This password is good for 72 hours, after which you may register again for a new password. 

Note: The e-mail occasionally ends up in Junk Mail, so be sure to check there if you do not receive it right away. Contact the Help Desk if you do not receive an e-mail or text message.

Step 10:
Enter your username (e-mail address) and password from the text/e-mail in the browser window resulting from Step 8. Click Login. You will only have to do this once per the 24 hour guest access.

Mac

Step 1:Click the Airport icon on the menu bar.

Step 2:

If wireless is not already on, click Turn Wi-Fi On.

Step 3:

The Airport icon will show that wireless is turned on.

Step 4:

Click the Airport icon and select EC_GUEST_WIFI.

Step 5:

There will be a check next to EC_GUEST_WIFI when it is connected. 


Step 6:
Open Safari. Click Agree at the bottom of the Acceptable Use Policy.


Step 7:

Guests will see two link options: guests with an existing account, and guests requiring a new account. For guests requiring a new account, skip to Step 10.

Step 8:

Guests with an existing account should click the appropriate link. If you have already registered and received a password, click this link to connect your other devices to the internet. 

Note: An existing account means you have already received your account information or conference code from ITS.

Enter the username and password that were given to you, then click Continue. Follow through the Guest Registration steps to register your computer.

Step 11:
Enter the information, then click Request Guest Access.

You will receive an e-mail at the address you entered and a text message on your mobile number containing the password for guest wireless access. This password is good for 72 hours, after which you may register again for a new password.

Step 13:
Enter your username (e-mail address) and password from the text/e-mail in the browser window resulting from Step 11.
