Desktop Alias - Mac OS X
Instead of navigating through several layers to get to a folder, you can create an alias (synonymous with a shortcut on PCs) on your desktop for easy access. For Mac OS 8.0 and higher.
Step 1:In Finder or on the desktop, select the file that you would like to create an alias for.Step 2:
Press File, or right-click, and select Make Alias. You can then drag the alias wherever you prefer it. This does not move the original item, but merely store the alias at the new location.
