Uploading Files - Users.Etown.Edu
Etown offers students, staff, and faculty the option to upload a website to users.etown.edu. This page explains how to connect to users.etown.edu and upload your website files.

To use users.etown.edu, you must have a website manager or FTP client installed on your computer. The FTP client must support secure FTP (FTPS).
WinSCP
Step 1:Download and install WinSCP from their website: WinSCP.net. Step 2:
Open WinSCP and click New Site.

Step 3:Set the Port Number to 22 and then set File Protocol to FTP in this order.

Step 4:Open WinSCP. In the new site window, do the following:
- Encryption: TLS/SSL Explicit encryption
- Host name: users.etown.edu
- Username: Etown username
- Password: Etown password
Then click Save.

Step 3:Select Login.

Step 4:After the connection has been established, you can now drag files from the left side (your computer) to the right side (your site).

FileZilla
Step 1:Download and install FileZilla from their website: filezilla-project.org.
Step 2:Click the icon in the top left corner to open the new site window.

Step 3:Do the following:
- Host: users.etown.edu
- Port: 22
- Protocol: FTP - File Transfer Protocol
- Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS
- Logon Type: Normal
- User: Etown username
- Password: Etown password
Then click Connect.

Step 4:After the connection has been established, you can now drag files from the left side (your computer) to the right side (your site).

Dreamweaver
Step 1:
Open Dreamweaver. In the new site window, do the following.
- Server Name: users.etown.edu
- Connect using: FTP over SSl/TLS (explicit encryption)
- FTP address: users.etown.edu
- Port: 22
- User: Etown username
- Password: Etown password
- Web URL: http://users.etown.edu/
- Authentication: None (encryption only)
Under More Options, check Use Passive FTP and Use FTP performance Optimization.

Step 2:In the Servers window, select Remote. Click Save.

Step 3:Click Yes.

Step 4:On the right hand toolbar, click the plug with an x icon.

Step 5:Once the plug icon has a check, click the expand windows icon.

Step 6:After the connection has been established, you can now drag files from the right side (your computer) to the left side (your site).
