Compress and Extract Files - Windows
You can compress a group of files or a folder for easy transfer to another computer. Compressed files are known as .zip files. If you receive a .zip file, you will have to extract it in order to work with the files inside.

Note: If a compressed folder or file contains encrypted information, it will become unencrypted upon extraction. Avoid putting sensitive or personal information in a compressed file.
Compress Files
Step 1:Double click the This PC icon on your desktop.

Step 2:
Find and select the folder or file that you wish to compress.

Step 3:
Right click on the folder or file. Hover on Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.

Step 4:
A new zipped folder will be created. This file can be easily emailed and shared to other computers, where it must be unzipped or extracted in order for the content to be accessed.

Extract Files
Step 1:Locate and select the compressed (zipped) folder. Right click on the folder or file. Select Extract All...

Step 2:
Choose the location that you would like the files to be extracted to. Click Extract.

Step 3:
The folder or file will be extracted, and you will be able to work with the contents.
