Authentication Methods - Multi-Factor Authentication

Option 1: Microsoft Authenticator App (Six Digit Code)

How to verify: You must enter a code from the Microsoft Authenticator app into the login window to verify logins.
Details:
- Uses Microsoft Authenticator app on smartphone or tablet
- A six digit code is entered to verify login
- Requirements:
- Ability to download apps on smartphone or tablet
- A cellular data or Wi-Fi connection on the smartphone or tablet. This is needed for only the initial download of the app. Verification codes do not need a data connection
- The Microsoft Authenticator App MUST remain on the smartphone or tablet for all verifications. It cannot be deleted.
- MOST SECURE METHOD!!
Option 2: Text Messages (Six Digit Code)

How to verify: You must enter a code from an SMS text message into the login window to verify logins.
Details:
- Does not require smart phone or tablet
- A six digit code (sent as a text message) is entered to log in
- Requirements:
- Access to a mobile phone which can receive SMS text messages
- A cellular (non-data) connection for all verifications
- SECOND MOST SECURE METHOD!!
Option 3: Phone Call (Press #)

How to verify: You receive a phone call from Microsoft and must press “#” key to verify.
Details:
- Does not require smartphone or tablet
- A phone call is received from Microsoft and “#” key is pressed
- Requirements:
- Access to any mobile phone (or land line)
- Cellular (non-data) connection for mobile phone calls
